Dr. Robi Tamargo
Meet Dr. Robi Tamargo, Expert Advisor of MaskTogetherAmerica
Dr. Robi Tamargo is a Clinical Psychologist in Florida. She is currently a PTSD / Substance Use Disorder specialist at the VA in addition to her virtual private practice. She has been practicing for 30 years, starting her career by serving in the Navy on active duty and in the reserves for a total of 17 years. She has served as a consultant to the Naval Hospital Jacksonville since 2014. Dr. Tamargo has become a specialist in treating Post Acute Sequelae of SARS-Co-V-2 (PASC), specifically Long Neuro COVID. She contracted COVID during the first wave from an undiagnosed pediatrician resulting in severe, multiorgan system illness. To seek care and support research of Long COVID, Dr. Tamargo went to Mount Sinai’s Center For Post-COVID Care in Manhattan, New York, where she participated in multiple collaborative studies by Dr. Akiko Iwasaki, Sterling Professor of Immunobiology and Professor of Dermatology and of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and of Epidemiology of Yale School of Medicine, and Dr. David Putrino, Director of Rehabilitation Innovation at the Mount Sinai Health System. Additionally, while at Mt. Sinai, Dr. Tamargo participated in studies targeting multi-organ systems including cardiovascular, central nervous, digestive, muscular, respiratory, skeletal, and urinary, undergoing a multitude of diagnostic tests.
Simultaneously, she participated in Research, Diagnosis, and Treatment with Dr. Bruce Patterson at the Chronic COVID Treatment Center, which she found to be the most effective treatment she has received. She credits Dr. Patterson for saving her life with his experimental off-label use of FDA approved drugs. Most recently, she participated in a 10-week trial with Neurologist, Dr. Syed Asad, in Florida using red light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and hydrogen inhalation treatment. She praises these therapies as improving her health to about 85% or her pre-COVID health – which was excellent.
An avid Long COVID public health advocate, she has spoken on a multitude of television, radio, and internet news outlets, including NPR, WHN, Baltimore Sun, and Lehigh Valley News with Rob Vaughn. She has spoken with Florida’s state and federal legislators advocating health care for Long COVID sufferers.
